Andy is a 6 year old smokey grey Domestic Shorthair cat who needs a new home. Andy weighs about 18 pounds and is Indoor only. This cat is located in Wake Forest NC 27587.

Andy is a big boy, almost 20 pounds, beautiful smokey grey shorthair with bright green eyes. He is very bold and not the type of cat to run away and hide when visitors enter the house. He is also quite confident and bold around dogs. He likes other cats, dogs and people, including kids. He is not aggressive, and does not bite or scratch people. However, our resident cat does not like other kitties, so Andy has become quite lonely. His desperate demands for attention from our resident car and subsequent rejection by her has caused him to start becoming disruptive and restless, especially at night, clawing in the blinds, etc., and is upsetting to the other cat who tends to lash out at his attempts to be near her. Andy does not care about playing with cat toys - he prefers to interact with other kitties or to be petted by his humans. We think he would do best in either a household with other cat-friendly pets who will interact/play with him, or as an only pet where he could have all the attention to himself. He is presently an indoor cat, but is not declawed.
Andy is good with Cats: Yes, Dogs: Yes, Kids: Yes

Are you the owner: Yes
Reason for surrender: Andy is not getting along with our other cat and our dog. We have tried everything (with the except of drugging the kitty) to no avail, and sadly we feel that a more appropriate home would be best for him. He seems to want to interact with other cats, but our resident kitty is not a "cat person" and does not care for him. Due to his loneliness, he has become destructive and is creating chaos in the home.
How did you acquire: Adopted from Franklin County Humane Society
How long owned: A little over 5 years

Update on Andy: We just got back from the vet where Andy had a checkup/exam showing him to be completely healthy, and he is now up to date on his distemper vaccine. The vet/behaviorist did tell us he has some territorial issues, however, and should be the only kitty in his new home.
