With her distinctive grey head and wide-set eyes, Regan is easily identifiable and she enjoys being with both other kitties and people. Regan originally came from NY with a colony of eighteen cats that the refuge took in when their owner passed away. Many of those cats have been adopted, but Regan remains with us, though she's such a friendly and gracious girl! Regan loves to be brushed and she loves caring for the other cats. She's a nurturing, gentle girl who would take good care of her people!
Good afternoon! I am Cammie, the Goathouse Cat
of the Week! I am around five years old and I like to hang out in the
refuge building. I have a meow that has been compared to a frog's croak,
and every once in a while, someone asks if I am pregnant, but I am NOT!
I just have big bones! Anyway, I hope that my day will come soon, as I
have been at the refuge a long time and I would really love to have my
own family.

Carpy is a very friendly female cat. She loves exploring her surroundings and very curious about people around her. Jr is a shy male cat, but once he gets to know you and the surroundings, he is the most cuddly cat you can find. They have been together for 12 years. They both do not have any healthy issues. They are very loving to each other. An ideal home for them will be someone who is willing to take them both and has no other pets at home.

Reason for surrender: Carpy and Jr have been my cats for 12 years. Since then I have developed very sever cat allergies. I have no relief from drugs or allergy shots. I have came to the consideration of cat shelters.

Sweet yellow and beige cat needs a new home. This cat is located in Efland, NC 27243.

The cat is very sweet and loving to all it comes in contact with. It loves to rub against anyone who allows this. It tries to get in the house so appears to have been at least partially a house cat. It looked healthy and well taken care of when it appeared. It seems to be fairing well outdoors on it's own yet still longs for the companionship of people and to come inside. It did get scratched on it's back once since arriving here but seems to have healed fine thus another indication of being healthy. Everyone who sees the cat feel drawn to it and immediately recognizes it's pretty appearance & gentle loving sweet nature. I would post a picture but do not have the ability to do this. I think the cat would make a great pet for anyone except someone whom it might be dangerous for the cat to get under their feet and cause them to fall as it does like to follow along as one walks and can get under foot.

Are you the owner: no, the cat was apparently dropped off about 2 weeks ago and has been living outside & feeding on mice
Reason for surrender: My niece who has Down syndrome & whom I am guardian of is not comfortable around animals and I have allergies to cat hair. So we will never be able to keep the cat ourselves but I think it would make a good pet for someone who loves cats.

Blackie is a approx 1 year old American shorthair - Black cat who needs a new home. Blackie weighs 6.5 lb. This cat is located in Beulaville, NC 28518.

Blackie is a short-haired, black female cat who is approx. 1 yr old. She was a stray who found her way to my home about 3 months ago. She is very friendly and affectionate. She loves to snuggle up to you in a chair or on the bed. She has never shown any signs of aggression to people or other cats - even when the other cat hissed at her. She is very sweet and loves attention. She is litter box trained and has a good appetite. She is happy to be indoors but enjoys some time outdoors as well to run and play. She has beautiful eyes and would be a great addition to any home.
Are you the owner: yes
Reason for surrender: I need to surrender Blackie so that she may find a good permanent home. I already have a cat named Grandma who is older and not a fan of other cats, so the plan for Blackie has always been to stay with me until a permanent home is found. This is now an immediate need because my sister has been diagnosed with cancer and must have surgery and treatment which will mean being away from home for an extended period of time and I will not be able to care for Blackie any longer. I need to know Blackie is cared for so that I can take care of my sister. Please help Blackie find a home. Thank you so very much.

Mrs. White is a 2 year old white, shorthair cat with a tabby patch of calico on face and tail, who needs a new home. Mrs. White weighs approx 7 lbs. This cat is located in Mebane NC 27302.

Mrs. White is one of three capture/spay/neuter/release cats that live in our neighborhood. They seem to go their separate ways in the woods behind my house during the day but I often see them if I look outside. Mrs. White is timid, will run if dogs, people come in my yard. She is content to sleep at night in a Kitty tube residence on my patio. beside the kitty tubes homes of two other cats, Sister Mary Margaret and Max Black. These cats have been ferals in the community for at least 2 summers now. They appear healthy, love to eat, drink from the birdbath even though they have water bowls. They greet me every morning at the backdoor with boundless energy and enthusiasm. They swipe against my legs as we head down the hill to their feeding spot at edge of woods. Mrs. White and her friends would love to find a home together as outdoor kitties. I will gladly be sure their shots are updated, they are healthy. Their homes can go with them. I fear neighbors that think feral cats are not special will have animal control trap them in next few wks. I hope to be able to send pictures of them this wk.that includes closeups, The one I am sending via email from my phone is a more distant shot with them heading in opposite directions as I raised my cameraphone.

Are you the owner: Cat has been in woods and neighborhood for over a year. Just began coming in my yard since Nov 2012
Reason for surrender: Mrs. White has been neutered in Chapel Hill by volunteers in the community. I have been feeding since Nov 2012. She appears healthy and loves to perch in trees. She gets along with 2 other cats, also ferals. They feed together and I have purchased 3 kitty tubes (TheKittyTube.com) that are on my patio with heating pads in each. A neighbor's dog chased a cat, not necessarily one of these and he grabbed the dog and fell. He appeared on my doorstep to expound on the evils of feral cats.
How did you acquire: They acquired me. I have 5 indoor cats so cannot bring another in to my declawed family.
How long owned: Thanksgiving 2012 is when I began feeding along with 2 other cats

Lewis is a 14 year old brown and white tabby cat who needs a new home. Lewis weighs 14 lbs. This cat is located in Chapel Hill NC 27516.

Lewis is a VERY friendly kitty who is used to a lively household. He is incredibly gentle and loves attention, even from noisy kids who would cause most kitties to run away. Nothing provokes him to scratch a person. He is a big snuggly boy who likes nothing better than to curl up in your lap or share naptime by your side. He is sociable with people and friendly to other cats, and I have a feeling he would be friendly with dogs too. Even my friends who don't like cats have loved Lewis!

He has lived most of his life indoors, but since coming to my farmhouse three months ago he has discovered the fun of the outdoors, though he still eats, sleeps and uses the litterbox inside. He's a healthy senior with no problems I've seen apart from not being a great jumper with his back legs. He runs, climbs stairs and climbs onto the sofa or my bed, but he doesn't jump onto other furniture. And he still likes to play, especially with his wand toy!

Lewis would be a perfect addition to any family, whether a single person (like myself) or a big family. He's one of those rare cats who loves children (instead of fearing or tolerating them) so he's an excellent family pet. He's used to being an only cat, but he has also gotten used to living with my other four cats, often grooming them while they nap together.

Lewis comes with his own big cat carrier, litterbox and favorite wand toy, and I will get him up to date on his vaccines. He'll be a wonderful addition to your family!

Sita is a 13 year old Persian/other mix, primarily white, black tail cat who needs a new home. Sita weighs 10 pounds. This cat is located in Prospect Hill, NC 27314.

Sita is a neutered female cat adopted in Alaska in January, 2001. She is mostly Persian with a half-helmet of gray-and-black fur and a black tail. She has been moved with us several times over the years, to Florida (she hunkered down in her cat carrier on the plane like a jackass in a hurricane), to Tennessee, and then to North Carolina. She lives both inside and outside, more so one or the other depending on the weather. She has adjusted to and gotten along well with dogs we had had over the years and to a couple cats we housed temporarily after a period of adjustment. She is territorial with the home and challenges strays but is not an aggressive constant fighter. She pretty much stays on the property. We are looking into a diet to eliminate dander that may be causing my wife's exacerbated allergies but are putting out the "feelers" to see if someone could take her either temporarily or if unsucessful, permanently.

Reason for surrender: We are trying not to surrender entirely. My wife was diagnosed allergic to cats years ago but we kept her, but my wife's allergies have gotten worse and will have further allergy testing in the next 2 or 3 weeks. We would like to see if a break from the cat improves her allergies, or if other sources of allergies are suspected.

Monty & Taco are two 7 month old White/black & White/Orange cats who needs a new home. They are Indoor only. These cats are located in Carrboro NC 27510.

Monty and Taco are incredibly sweet, friendly, and social brothers who have always grown up together. They love to play with toys and jump to catch things in the air, and can be pretty vocal. They are playful with each other and stay quite active even as indoor cats. Monty and Taco love to be together but I bet they'd also be fine on their own, as their personalities compliment each other yet can stand alone. They have been trained to stay off of counter tops, furniture, and beds, and they respond well to discipline when necessary. They are the sweetest and most playful cats I've ever owned! I know they would transition easily into a new home.

Juliette is a 2 year old gray Blue Russian cat who needs a new home. Juliette weighs b/w 8-10 lbs and is Indoor only. This cat is located in Fuquay Varina NC 27526

Juliette is a shy cat around most people. She tends to find certain people she likes and sticks to them. Once she likes you, though, there is no escape. She will follow you around the house, she will talk to you, she will even sleep beside you. She will act as an alarm clock if you don't hear yours the first time, she will roll around on you to get your attention, and she does not like anyone on the phone and at the computer at the same time. She's not aggressive at all, just very quirky. I loved her very much and am going to miss her, but I believe she will make a great addition to someone's home.

Romeo is a 9 year old black cat who needs a new home. Romeo weighs between 10-15 lbs. This cat is located in Fuquay Varina, NC.

Romeo is a very loving cat. I rescued him as a stray because he appeared to have been hit by a car and his hips healed wrong. He walks a little funny but has full nerve function according to the vet. He is a very strange cat to me because he is super co- dependant and will actually come running when you call his name. He probably has the loudest purr I have ever heard. He has been an interesting and pleasant part of our family, but we just aren't allowed to take him when we move, and I feel he would do another family some good.

Zod is a 10 year old Abyssinian Mix / tabby cat who needs a new home. Zod weighs ~9 lbs and is Indoor only. This cat is located in Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Zod is an awesome cat. He is very affectionate and incredibly playful, we are constantly laughing at his antics. He unfortunately ended up in the shelter when his owner's life changed. Marleys Cat Tales stepped up to save him. Zod is living with 4 other cats and 9 dogs and is doing fantastic. He takes everything in stride and nothing seems to phase him. Zod is incredibly affectionate and loving and quite the character. If you are ready to laugh, a lot, then Zod is the kitty for you! We would love for Zod to have a home of his own.
Are you the owner: I rescued him from Wake County Shelter a year ago
Reason for surrender: We own 5 dogs and 5 cats. Zod gets along great with our dogs and 4 of the cats but for some reason hates our 14 yr old cat, Debo. He randomly attacks her to the point that our dogs jump in. Debo has now been attacked by our dogs 3 times. I have had Debo since she was 8 weeks old and she has never had problems with other dogs or cats. We have tried pheromone plug ins and locking Zod up (he tries to tear down doors if put up). So now Debo has to live in the bathroom alone for her own protection. Zod is a foster cat. We never took him for ourselves. He has been on petfinder the entire time with no interest. I am assuming it is because of his age. He is incredibly friendly to humans and the rest of the crew but is quirky. He is obsessed with the sink in the kitchen.
When we first got Zod we had more foster dogs. We have since taken a
break from rescue (after 10 years) so that I could focus on grad school
and give my current animals a break. We have an 18 yr old cat too. I
am willing to pay for upkeep of Zod or "trade" for a feral barn cat, if
you have one.
How did you acquire: I rescued him from Wake County Shelter a year ago. he belonged to a friend of a friend that dumped him.
