NOTE: This cat is in need from the community. This is listed as a courtesy, and the animal does not live at the Refuge. The Goathouse Refuge is not responsible for any problems with the animals or with the adoption process. Please contact the owner directly for more information.

Rocky is a 2.5 year old Grey Domestic Shorthair cat who needs a new home. Rocky weighs 14 lbs and is Indoor only. This cat is located in Chapel Hill, NC 27514.

Rocky would do best in an environment where he could go outside into a fenced yard, but mostly stay indoors. He loves to lay in the sunshine, and look out the window. He's a quiet kitty, and he is a good companion. I wouldn't call him sweet, and he doesn't like to be held, but he is very nice. He plays with string, loves feet under the covers, likes to be around people and certainly loves his food and snacks. He is very good with other animals, and he rubs up against our two dogs (50 lbs each). He wrestles with our other cat, and the other cat does not appreciate it.

Rocky is a 10 year old Grey striped maine coon mix cat who needs a new home. Rocky weighs 18 to 20 lbs and is Indoor only. This cat is located in Raleigh, NC 27615.

Rocky belonged to my brother who died 1 1/2 years ago from Type I Diabetes. He loved Rocky and Rocky was a true companion who never left his side. Rocky is diabetic & requires a daily insulin shot and is 10 years old. He is an indoor kitty and loves attention but is not demanding. He is a big boy with a large head and beautiful face and eyes. He uses the Arm & Hammer pine litter and a covered litter box. He has a basket of toys that he sometimes will play with and a carrier he likes to lounge/sun in. Rocky gives head butts and is loving and likes to be loved, he was #1 kitty at my brother's home and this would be ideal for him, however we have 8 other cats that he occasionally visits. He is a sweet boy, he always comes up to me while I'm getting ready for work and backs up to get his attention/rubs for the morning...I think Rocky would do fine w/other cats. My wish is for Rocky to go to a home where he can live and enjoy the rest of his years giving head butt loves and knowing he is loved. My heart is sad to have to place him, he has a special place in my heart, would like to be able to visit occasionally.

An ideal home situation would be one with a yard where he can run around outside and do his thing and come indoors whenever he feels he needs a rest. He loves lounging in flowers. A sweet and gentle black cat with beautiful green eyes and chubby cheeks, Chocolate came to the refuge last February from a no-kill shelter in South Carolina where he lived indoors-only with many other cats. He's a peaceful and mellow kitty who loves to be petted. And what a handsome guy he is, like a big cuddly teddy bear cat. Black cats are often overlooked by people interested in adopting - all we are saying is give black cats a chance! Kittens of the Week: Nacho and Rutuu

How can you resist these precious faces?!? Nacho and Rutuu are brother and sister, and they are both beautiful, playful, loving, and completely adorable. Nacho is a dapper orange and white boy, and Rutuu is a gorgeous tabby who is growing up to be a beauty just like their mama cat, Juno (who is also availalble for adoption). The kittens were born in March 2012, and they are growing up fast.

Both Nacho and Rutuu have a guardian angel who wants to see them in a loving forever home and has sponsored their adoption fees! So with an approved application, you can adopt one or both of these kittens for free and use the money you saved for a future vet visit or to buy them a bunch of cool kitty toys.

We like for our kittens to be adopted in pairs (learn why "Two Kittens are Easier Than One.")  and Nacho and Rutuu would be a fantastic pair! But if you have another young cat at home already, you can adopt one kitten. And if you are unable to adopt at this time, perhaps you would like to sponsor the adoption fee for one of our fantastic kittens or cats?

There are over 50 kittens available for adoption at the Goathouse now. Please help us spread the word - we would love to see these babies in forever home for the holidays!

Ziggy loves people and attention so much - give him a treat or a pat on the head, and he'll follow you around for the rest of the day. He really wants to be someone's special house cat again. Ziggy would love to be adopted with one of the other cats from his family (Lucky, Bimbo, Fred, or Hank). Come meet this cute and friendly boy soon. DOB 2007

He came to the Goathouse in February 2012 along with 14 other cats who had to leave a no-kill shelter in South Carolina. Happy Tails: Dawn

Her new name is Twiggy! A nice report from her new family:

This is one sweet sweet kitty. We could not be more grateful for what she has brought into mom's life. She took a while to warm up but has bonded beautifully.

She has a cardboard box we keep her toys in, and she throws the toys out and plays in the box and then hides the toys all over the apt to find later. Later we find the toys back in the box. She sleeps with mom during all her naps. She has her quiet places but uses them less and less.

Thank you again for helping us adopt our new girl.

Cat of the Week: Juno

Juno is a sweet brown tabby girl with a round face and inquisitive, gentle gaze. This little lapcat loves people! She is so very happy when visitors come to the refuge and pay attention to her. She loves nothing more than to relax in a warm human lap.  Juno came to the refuge in the Spring of 2012 with her five kittens in tow. Some of them have been adopted, but Nacho (orange tabby) and Rutuu (brown tabby) are still looking for a home too. Wouldn't you like to bring this special girl home (and maybe one of her kittens too!)? Approx DOB is 2011.

Logan can be a little bit shy at first, but it doesn't take long to make friends with him. Once he realizes that he can trust you, he is very loving and soaks up affection like a sponge. Logan really needs a safe and loving home where he can relax and enjoy life. This sweet and gentle boy will be a wonderful best friend and house cat for some lucky human.  Come meet Logan soon! DOB 2010.

Cat of the Week: Amber

Amber is one of the prettiest little tabby girls you've ever seen, with bright green eyes and a sweet face. She came to us in autumn of 2011 after her owner surrendered her to a public shelter. Amber was so sad and bewildered to find herself homeless; she had a "why me?" look in her eyes that was heart-breaking. She really wants to be someone's special house cat again! Amber loves people, other cats not so much. She would be so happy to be your one-and-only cat friend. Amber is living in a foster home right now so contact the Goathouse office to make arrangements to meet her. Please give Amber a second chance at having a forever home. DOB 2005.
